Travel baseball back in Halifax for fall season | Local Sports

NC GameOn Sports returns to South Boston this weekend when the Southeastern Ring Slugfest tournament takes place Saturday and Sunday.

The tournament will be played at the Day Complex in South Boston and GAP in Oxford, North Carolina.

The 12U, 15U and 18U divisions will compete at the Day Complex while the other divisions will take place in Oxford.

This is the first tournament of the fall season for members of the NC GameOn Sports, who took a week off on Labor Day weekend after wrapping up the summer season the week before with the summer world series.

NC GameOn Sports announced that Halifax County will be hosting events throughout the fall season.

The two county facilities will host tournaments from now through the weekend of Nov. 21-22.

The tournaments will be split between Halifax and Oxford to help accommodate that amount of teams and to promote social distancing.

This weekend there are close to 40 teams playing at the two locations with the 10U Virginia Squires and the 12U Spartans representing the local teams participating this weekend.

Tournament play is the same that it has been throughout the summer with pool play taking place on Saturday, with each team playing two games in pool play.

After pool play the teams in each division are seeded based off of their results, and bracket play begins on Sunday morning.

It is a single elimination bracket play, and the last team standing will be crowned champions of their age division.

The next tournament to come to Halifax will be the 8th Annual Battle on the Diamond on Sept. 19-20.
