Disclosure: I received a copy of each Solve It! book to review and keep.
The summer holidays are almost upon us and with them comes the age-old challenge of keeping kids entertained. Particularly if you’re travelling anywhere and keen to keep the calls of “Are we nearly there yet?” to an absolute minimum.
I’m a strong believer in keeping their minds active while school’s out – six weeks is a long time not to be giving their brains a workout, after all – so this new range of books by Collins is just the job.
The Solve It! range comprises four books, each focusing on a different area and all aimed at kids aged eight and up. Read on for an overview of each title plus your chance to win one of two sets.
Solve It! Word Games for Big Thinkers
Much like me, my kids love word games so this one is bound to prove popular. It boasts over 120 puzzles including anagrams, wordsearches and missing vowels.
It’ll help them keep their literacy skills sharp and the challenges are of a decent standard so they should feel a good sense of achievement with each one they complete.
Solve It! Number Games for Big Thinkers
My lot are going to love this one too. Again, there are more than 120 puzzles comprising sum finders, Sudoku and number towers among others.
Again, they’re not too easy which can only be a good thing – well, unless the kids need my help, but I’m hopeless at maths – so this should serve them well.
Solve It! Brain Games for Big Thinkers
This one offers a bit of everything. There are wordsearches, picture problems and code breakers among a great many others.
As is the case with the previous two books, the puzzles get progressively harder as you go through – a great idea for keeping young minds engaged and ready to hit the ground running when they return to school in September!
Solve It! Guess the Word Inspired by Wordle
We all love Wordle in our house and the kids have been known to create their own grids for us to complete, so I know they’ll enjoy this book too.
It allows two players to play a game inspired by the hugely popular online title. One checks the answer in the back of the book and then marks the other’s progress at guessing the mystery word.
Win one of two sets!
I’m impressed by all of the books and am glad my kids will be using them while they’re off school. We’ll definitely be packing all of them for our summer holiday.
All of the Solve It! books have an RRP of £4.99, but I have two full sets up for grabs. To be in with a chance of winning, enter via the Rafflecopter widget below.
You can use as many of the entry methods as you like. Good luck!
