Kadoma Cricket Club 92 all out in 28.5 overs (Takudzwanaishe Kaitano 21; Tapiwa Mufudza 4-34, Nigel Mupurura 3-17)

Takashinga 1 97/2 after 9.2 overs (Tinashe Kamunhukamwe 47*, Timycen Maruma 27; Byron Stevens 1-19, Nickel Kombora 1-19)

Takashinga 1 won by 8 wickets

Takashinga 1 made light work of Kadoma Cricket, inflicting an emphatic eight-wicket hiding on Kadoma Cricket Club in 2023 National Premier League (NPL) matchday three tie at Takashinga Cricket Club on Sunday.

Takashinga 1 won the toss and chose to field and dismissed the Midlands side for 92. Takudzwanaishe Kaitano was the only one to get to over 20 runs. Just 21.

Only three other players got to double figures as Tapiwa Mufudza and Nigel Mupurura had their way.

Takashinga 1 were merciless, the opening partnership between Timycen Maruma and Tinashe Kamunhukamwe, putting on 70, before the former was removed for 27.

Emmanuel Bawa was next out for just five, bowled by Nickel Kombora.

Kamunhukamwe was joined by Marshall Takodza, and the pair took their side home.


Scorpions Cricket Club 132 all out in 26.1 overs (Gratitude Jaya 19, Nelson Chimbirimbiri 16; Brandon James 4-26, Taboka Manyalo 4-46, Ruvimbo Mumbire 2-24)

Bulawayo Athletic 136/5 in 24.4 overs (Brandon James 51; Nezbert Maringire 2-17, Tariro Kapungu 1-25, Nkosilathi Nungu 1-25)

Bulawayo Athletic Club won by 5 wickets

Bulawayo Athletic Club (BAC) were clumsy in their bowling, but still did enough to beat Scorpions Cricket Club by five wickets.

They conceded 40 extras after putting Scorpions. The Masvingo side were dire, Gratitude Jaya top-scoring with 19 and Nelson Chimbirimbiri 16.

It meant 30 percent of the Scorpions total came from extras.

Taboka Manyalo was particularly culpable, bowling an extra 14 deliveries from his eight overs.

Brandon James was the most disciplined, going at 3.18 an over.

And it was James who then top-scored for BAC in their response, scoring 51.

Other players, Gift Mavhaire (19), Kudakwashe Kaitano (19), Vitalis Bawu (17*), and skipper Tafara Mupariwa helped BAC to their win in 24.4 overs.


Takashinga 2 – 217/9 in 45 overs (Aliakbar Hamid 87, Brian Majoka 34; Thabo Mboyi 3-33, Ernest Masuku 3-36)

Amakhosi Cricket Club – 158 all out in 36.2 overs (Keith Ndlovu 46, Ashley Phiri 21, Tinashe Mujuru 21; Takudzwa Chataira 4-56, Wallace Mubaiwa 2-22)

Takashinga 2 won by 59 runs

Aliakbar Hamid scored an excellent half-century as Takashnga 2 maintained their 100 percent start to the season with a 59-run win over Amakhosi Cricket Club, at Kwekwe Sports Club.

His well-crafted 87 included 12 fours, after the Harare side were put in to bat. He was instrumental in creating a launchpad for his side. However, after Hamid fell when the score was on 155 for the loss of four wickets.

With 11 overs left, the rest of the players put on 62 runs for what was a defendable total.

Amakhosi lost Adrian Muoembe for just three early on, but his partner Keith Ndlovu was defiant.

His knock of 46 stood out, in a game in which a few had starts. Ashley Phiri made 21, Tinashe Mujuru the same, Raymond Kasimo, 20, and Bright Phiri 18.

They simple did not have enough, and Amakhosi were bowled out for 158 in 36.2 overs.


Mutare Sports Club – 237/7 in 40 overs (Spencer Magodo 108, Kudzai Sauramba 39, Clive Chitumba 35; Manson Chikowero 3-28, Panashe Mugeri 2-45)

Mbizo Cricket Club – 78 all out in 21.2 overs (Lesley Chomudondo 23*, Clive Takaedza 15; John Masara 3-4, Tatenda Mupunga 3-19, Kudakwashe Ncumani 2-26)

Mutare Sports Club won by 159 runs

Spencer Mugodo scored tournament’s third century as he helped Mutare Sports Club to an eviscerating 159-run win over Mbizo Cricket Club at Old Hararians Sports Club.

He was the main highlight of an extremely one-sided match, needing 99 balls for a 108 which had 17 fours.

Along with fellow opener Clive Chitumba (35), Mugodo orchestrated a 119-run partnership, before the former fell to Abel Chirimuta.

Kudzai Sauramba joined him and the pair added 72. Mugodo finally fell to Panashe Mugeri with the score on 191.

Sauramba stuck around for 39 but there were collapses all around.

Still, 237 for the loss of seven was a lot against this season’s strugglers.

And so it was.

Three players made double figures. the most came from the willow of Lesley Chomudondo who made an unbeaten 23.


Rainbow Cricket Club – 279/9 in 39 overs (Gary Chirimuuta 83, Kumbirayi Phiri 45; Definate Mawadzai 4-51, Vincent Masekesa 2-54)

Westside Cricket Club – 280/9 in 38.2 overs (Kevin Kasuza 119, Tinashe Chiorah 64; Muhammed Zaheer Turfail 4-64, Ahsan Aqil Ali 3-73, Patrick Nyamapfeni 2-50)

Westside Cricket Club won by 1 wicket

Westside Cricket Club needed to dig deep to eke out a one-wicket victory over Rainbow Cricket Club at Mutare Sports Club.

Having put Rainbow, they watched as the visitors put on 279 for the loss of seven wickets.

It was buoyed by the Gary Chirimuuta’s eye-catching 83 off just 44 balls, blasting seven fours and four sixes.

And while Kevin Kasuza had Westside looking comfortable winners, it all turned on its head when Ahsan Aqil Ali had him out for 118. That knock was from just 68 balls, with nine fours and as many sixes.

There were nerves as wickets fell and when Westside captain Vincent Masekesa came in, his side still needed 19 runs.

With Takudzwa Nyamugure (9*), he accumulated 21 runs to lead his side to the win with four balls to spare
