BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh volleyball is looking to get back on track following two losses last weekend, as the Mountain Hawks (6-13, 2-6 PL) head to Washington, D.C. to take on American Saturday at 4 p.m. The matchup will be a rematch of last Friday’s match between the two teams, as the Eagles (10-10, 4-4 PL) battled back to win in five sets at Grace Hall.
 
Lehigh dropped a road contest to Holy Cross last Sunday after falling to AU and are looking to snap the two-match losing streak. Against the Crusaders, it was a trio of Mountain Hawks that finished with double-digit kills, led by Sabrina Lancaster (11), Ava Hudson (11) and Emily Stewart (11). Makena Smith registered 32 assists and Ally Thaw had 19 digs.
 
At this juncture of the season, it’s freshman Megan Schulte that has made the most impact offensively, with a team-high 212 kills and 3.03 kills per set to her name. She is also third on the team in blocks with 40 and fourth in digs with 137.
 
Other statistical leaders include Makena Smith at 574 assists and 23 service aces, Kyleigh Brown at 214 digs and Emily Stewart at 74 blocks.
 
The Mountain Hawks are hitting .187 as a team so far this season in 19 matches, averaging 11.8 kills per set.
 
AU comes into the weekend following a 3-0 win at Navy on Wednesday night. The Eagles fell in five sets over the weekend to Army West Point, right after defeating Lehigh on the road.
 
Against the Midshipmen, it was Zeynep Uzen who led the way with 17 kills, Asli Celikkol had 10. Chiara Bosetti had 21 digs and Bridget Javitch provided a spark at the service line with three aces.
 
Looking at the Patriot League standings, AU currently sits in fifth position at 4-4 in the league, a game in front of Navy (3-5) in sixth and two in front of Lehigh (2-6) in seventh. Bucknell and Holy Cross round out the league standings at eighth and ninth, respectively.
 
AU is attempting to go for its 40th all-time victory over Lehigh on Saturday, leading the series, 39-7. The Eagles are victorious in the last three matchups and seven of the last eight.
