Wednesday night, LeBron James and the shorthanded Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Sacramento Kings. The 134-120 defeat drops the Lakers’ record to 13-18. James scored 31 points, dished out 11 assists, and grabbed 6 rebounds.
In James’ postgame interview, he talked about his teammates needing to always be ready.
“When your number is called you just have to go out there and do your job and do it to the best of your ability,” James told Sideline Sources. “Each individual can do it. Let the chips fall where they may. Do it as a collective group. Obviously, we had a lot of guys out. Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook, Austin Reaves. A lot of our big minute guys. I thought the guys stepped up, but we just didn’t have enough.”
James and his shorthanded Lakers competed and had five players score in double figures. Slowing the Kings down was the problem. Although things are quickly stacking up against the Lakers, James isn’t giving up on his team.
“I’m going to show up to work and be ready to go,” James told the media. “Lead the guys on the floor when I’m on the floor. Try to help them out when I’m not on the floor at certain points. But just do my job and more than I can do. Hopefully, it results in wins. That’s the only business I’m in is wins. So hopefully, it results in wins.”
Next, the Lakers will head home to face LaMelo Ball and the 8-24 Charlotte Hornets.
