A highly successful event since inauguration in 1930, the leading men’s and women’s tennis players from around the world usually participate in this tournament, as it’s vital to preparation ahead of the French Open tournament each year.

Italian Open 2023 is here between 12-21 May 2023 with the qualifiers taking place from 8th May 2023 onwards. Winning the 2022 Italian Open, Serbia’s Novak Djokovic is the defending champion and also the Italian Open 2023 top seed for the men’s draw. In the women’s draw, Poland’s Iga Swiatek has won the last two tournaments here in 2021 and 2022, and she’s the obvious choice for the top female seed as well. However, both of them will surely receive tough competition.

This is the first time the tournament has expanded to a 2-week schedule, with the men’s and women’s draws expanded to 96 players each. Italian Open 2023 qualifiers

Apart from these top seeds, we’ll see many other qualifiers and wild cards in action from the men’s and women’s competitions. From the Italian Open 2023 qualifiers, Viktoriya Tomova was the top seed in the women’s draw and she has qualified while Alexei Popyrin was the top seed who qualified to the men’s main draw, along with other qualifiers as well.

Italian Open 2023 withdrawals

Those from the prime men’s players to miss the tournament include Rafael Nadal, Matteo Berrettini, Pablo Carreño Busta, Marin Čilić, Nick Kyrgios, and Denis Shapovalov, all of whom are nursing different injuries. Petra Kvitova and Belinda Bencic are some of the female players missing the tournament with injuries, while Zhang Shuai has dropped out with no official reason mentioned yet.
