For the Love of a Button Book

Big Book of Nature SoundsWe need lots of books for review at A Child Grows. I try to put round-ups together to include the review books with others that I buy or read from the library. I often include reviews from other writers on the team to round out review lists. Not this time. This time I’m focusing on one book we received that I found so fabulous that I just have to tell everyone. It’s the Big Book of Nature Sounds* created by Lucie Brunelliere and published by Twill (Chronicle Books).

This book has a 20 buttons (one for each page of sounds). Even a toddler can match the buttons to the pages…even my toddler. He spent hours listening to the sounds when literally nothing else kept his attention for more than five minutes. Kids love pushing buttons. The books still keeps him busy for five minutes when I really need it.

The is educational too. Each page represents a different habitat or landscape and the sounds are not just animal sounds. There are fun sounds like splashing, walking on snow, and wind. There are some amazing bird songs. Most importantly, the book finally helps us with the eternal question: “What Does the Fox Say?”
