Mike Bakare, who owns ABF Remodeling in the Copperfield area at 8719 N. Hwy. 6, Houston, said clients are implementing both small changes such as updating flooring and significant undertakings such as full kitchen renovations during this time.
1. Give the kitchen a facelift
Installing custom cabinets, granite countertops and recessed lighting in the ceiling can make the kitchen an elegant space, Bakare said. Kitchen renovations are popular right now, he said, and many clients are taking the extra step to tear down walls in their kitchen to create a more open floor plan.
2. Modernize bathroom fixtures
In addition to the kitchen, bathrooms are another top priority for upgrades when it comes to increasing home value. Bakare recommends installing a frameless glass walk-in shower with a bench, two rain showerheads and granite or marble customizations.
3. Replace flooring
New flooring can transform a room with a variety of styles to choose from depending on how the space is used. For instance, luxury vinyl tile is a durable option for high-traffic areas with potential moisture exposure, and carpet can enhance a room’s acoustics, according to ABF Remodeling’s website.
4. Spruce up the patio space
Typical patio projects at ABF Remodeling consist of a new patio cover with stained wood ceilings, electrical fans, speakers and recessed lighting. Bakare said outdoor kitchens can also be installed for added value and can create a relaxing weekend getaway spot in clients’ own backyard.
